Director - Il cerchio

Sophie Chiarello is an Italian-French director. She grew up in France and graduated from the FEMIS film school in Paris. From 2019 to 2021, she participated in the creative writing course at
the Scuola del Libro held by Carola Susani and Francesco Pacifico.
She began her career in Italy as assistant director to G. Salvatores, M. Venier, E. Winspeare, K. Rossi Stuart, G. Piccioni, W. Labate, and has collaborated with many Italian and non-Italian advertising directors. She wrote and directed three short films that have won awards at various festivals. Un filo intorno al mondo, starring the famous comedy trio Aldo, Giovanni & Giacomo, was a finalist at the 2006 Nastri d’Argento and participated in several festivals in Italy and abroad.
She then collaborated in directing the film La banda dei babbi natale with Aldo, Giovanni & Giacomo and directed her debut Ci vuole un gran fisico, which was released in cinemas in 2013. At the same time, she developed her documentary projects. In 2011, she wrote and directed RITALS, domani me ne vado alongside her sister Anna-Lisa Chiarello, which screened in numerous festivals in Italy and abroad and won the special jury prize at the 2012 Annecy Italian Film Festival.
