In the city of Rome on October 16, 1943, the Nazis arrest more than 1,250 Jews. The victims must prepare their suitcases and abandon their homes in just a few minutes. On October 18 they are brought to the Tiburtina train station, piled in twenty-eight cattle wagons and deported to the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp.

Only sixteen will make it back home. Seventy-five years after the raid of October 16, 1943, the documentary traces one of the most tragic pages of Italian history through the voices of those who lived it.
