Founder and Artistic Director

Dr. Giovanna De Luca is professor of Italian and film studies at the College of Charleston. Her research interests are Italian and French cinema, film festival studies, and contemporary Italian literature. She is the author of the book Il punto di vista dell’ infanzia nel cinema italiano e francese: rivisioni, published by Liguori Editore in 2009, and currently is writing a book on the representations of mafia in American and Italian cinema. She founded Nuovo Cinema Italiano Film Festival in 2006 to bring Italian art and culture to Charleston and showcase some of Italy’s best contemporary films.
